Super 8 format explained

Super 8 tournament format explained

The Super 8 is one of the most popular formats in beach tennis, padel and tennis. It is designed so that every player plays with and against everyone else, which makes it social, fair and fast to organize.

How it works
  • 8 players form a group. There are no fixed pairs.
  • Over the rounds, partners rotate: each player partners with every other player once and faces everyone else as an opponent.
  • Every game won counts individually for each player, so the group produces an individual ranking, not a pair ranking.
  • The best players of each group advance to a knockout phase (mata-mata) or are simply ranked at the end.
Why organizers like it
  • Everyone plays the same number of matches.
  • Level differences are balanced because partners keep changing.
  • It fits a few hours on a small number of courts.
Beyond 8 players

Real tournaments rarely have exactly 8 people. On Super8.live you can create several groups, mix doubles with Super 8 groups, set seeded participants and byes, and finish with a knockout phase. The platform generates the groups, matches and the ranking for you.
